Razer Announces New, Ultra-Light Kraken X Headset

Jun 6, 2019

Razer’s new Kraken X headset is lighter and less expensive than past models. It’s available today in models designed for compatibility with both PC and consoles. A component of this updated design is an emphasis on battery life. The new Kraken X will last “all day”, according to Razer. I’m a big fan of Razer’s headsets and as soon as I get this one in for review I’ll work through the paces to get my impressions up on GWW.

Portions of the original press release follows.

The Kraken X is designed to deliver superior comfort all day long.Seriously, all day. It features a fresh redesign that slims down the familiar Razer Kraken profile to an extremely lightweight of just 250 grams(0.55 lbs),making it one of the lightest gaming headsets in the market today. Paired with soft memory foam ear cushions, glasses-friendly eye wear channels and an adjustable headband, the Kraken X serves as an undeniably comfortable gaming headset.

True gaming audio is not complete without 7.1 surround sound. Even the affordable new Kraken X headset will feature 7.1 surround sound instead of stereo audio seen on competitive budget-friendly gaming headsets.Delivering a true competitive advantage, the 7.1 surround sound software provides accurate positional audio in the middle of battle. It is a critical gaming element that helps pinpoint where the danger is coming from.7.1 surround sound is available with the Kraken X on Windows 10 64-bit.“The Kraken X is great for any gamer,” says Alvin Cheung, Senior Vice President of Peripherals at Razer. “It’s ultra-light and incredibly comfortable, so you can game for hours with it.It is the companion of choice for domination and immersion in your game with 7.1 surround sound.”The Kraken X is built with a bendable cardioid microphone.
