I was introduced to Archie Andrews when I was a kid in the late seventies. On Sunday mornings I looked forward to the newspaper being delivered to the house. I would rampage through the sections of the paper until I found the funnies (Comic Strips). Once there I found all my friends from Riverdale High School. Flash forward forty years later to San Diego Comic Con 2016. This is where we received the news that the CW Network would be transferring Archie and the gang from the comics to a live action television show called “Riverdale”. My question was how would a comedy about tennagers in an uncomplicated time be brought to life in this insane and erratic world of 2017? All of my questions were answered in the first episode of this series.
Roberto Aguirre – Sacasa (Writer/Executive Producer) explained it perfectly by stating “The Show is like Archie meets Twin Peaks.”
I will even go a step further by saying it’s “One Tree Hill” meets Archie in “Twin Peaks.”
Right from the get go the show starts off with a bang. I mean that literally with a gunshot and a murder. Each week that passes we are introduced to more twists and turns then a slalom ski race. If you have not seen this show please download the CW app and catch up now. The show has already been renewed for a second season.
Recently I had a chance to sit down with the cast and creators of the show at WonderCon 2017. Pull up a chair and dive into the world of Riverdale and enjoy the interviews.
