RUMOR: ‘Mission Impossible’ Director Christopher McQuirrie Courted For ‘Green Lantern Corps’?

Mar 5, 2018

DC Films slate has been in flux ever since Justice League wasn’t well received by the general audience while most fans agree it was a step in the right direction. While WB is hard at work currently filming Shazam and in pre-production on Wonder Woman 2; what about their other films they have previously announced? Screenwriter David Goyer was hired a couple of years ago to pen the script for the upcoming reboot of Green Lantern Corps.

Last year That Hashtag Show revealed that director Rupert Wyatt was being looked at to possibly direct the film but since has passed. They are back today to reveal that Mission Impossible: Fallout director and Edge of Tomorrow screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie is being looked at to possibly helm the upcoming reboot.

We at Omega Underground have heard whispers that back in July Tom Cruise had met with Warner Brothers for an upcoming film. It’s very possible he was also meeting with the studio for the role of Hal Jordan (as the studio is looking for an older actor in the role). Considering the studio was looking at his frequent directing collaborator Christopher McQuarrie to helm the project. That whisper might have a little more water to itself. However, this again is all information several months old.

Many fans have also thrown Nathan Fillion name in there as a possible Hal Jordan as far back as 2009 when a fan-trailer featuring the actor was released online. The actor thought he was a little to old when the original 2011 film came out staring Ryan Reynolds. However, the actor has since voice Hal Jordan in several animated Green Lantern films. So maybe it’s finally time to let him become the Protector of Sector 2814?

Green Lantern Corps is slated for July 24th 2020
