Mar 2, 2017

The Wrap has word that Stranger Things breakout actor David Harbour is being eyed and has screen-tested for the role of Cable in Deadpool 2.

“Stranger Things” star David Harbour is being eyed to play Cable in 20th Century Fox’s “Deadpool 2,” an individual with knowledge of the situation tells TheWrap.

The source also said Fox has screen-tested the actor, who plays Chief Jim Hopper on the Netflix phenomenon, to play the time traveling mutant in the upcoming sequel to the hit film.

While there has been speculation surrounding the role, this is the first bit of solid intel concerning the Cable casting. It’s expected the actor playing Cable would also have roles in Deadpool 3 and a string of X-Force films, not to mention possibly other X-Men films including a solo flick.

It was previously rumored that Django Unchained’s Kerry Washington was a frontrunner for the role of Domino.

Harbour’s film credits include Quantum of Solace, Suicide Squad, End of Watch, Black Mass, and The Equalizer. His Stranger Things co-stars have landed high-profile gigs as well with roles in the It remake and Godzilla: King of The Monsters.

Omega Underground previously spotted that the Directors Guild of Canada has listed the production start to be June 19th in Vancouver, while an official release date hasn’t been announced.
