Well all knew this was coming but it’s apparently a done-deal.
Marvel Studios and Ryan Coogler have reportedly closed a deal for the Black Panther writer-director to return for Black Panther 2. A huge deal for the studio coming off it’s massive $1.3 billion global box office take earlier in the year.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter the filmmaker behind Marvel’s landmark Black Panther has quietly closed a deal to write and direct the sequel.
Considering the sequel doesn’t have a script at the moment it’s unlikely we’ll see things move forward into production until late 2019 or early 2020.
There is also a good chance it’ll make a return to Georgia, where they shot the first film at Tyler Perry’s facility Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.
Chadwick Boseman is said to be getting a large pay raise on the sequel, but it’s unknown who else among the original cast will be returning for the sequel at this time.
A release date hasn’t been made official but we suspect that they’ll end up dropping it on February 12th, 2021.
