Deepfake versions of Ryan Reynolds and Elon Musk are being used to promote each other’s brands in a pair of fan-made ads. The first ad features a synthetic Reynolds praising Tesla cars. The ad was created by Kevin Paffrath, a YouTuber under the “Meet Kevin” brand, and has since gathered over 8 million views. Shortly after, Ryan Reynolds’ marketing agency, Maximum Effort, produced their own deepfake ad with Musk promoting Reynolds-owned Aviation Gin. Both ads showcase the growing popularity of hyperrealistic deepfake technology.
