Supergirl is moving from the small screen to the silver screen as Deadline reports Sasha Calle will be portraying the cousin of Kal-El in Any Muschietti’s upcoming The Flash film.
Calle was chosen to dawn the “S” after an extensive audition process that involved Muschietti and DC Films President Walter Hamada viewing over 425 candidates for the coveted role. It is said that Calle blew away Muschietti and producers with her toughness and vulnerability and will now become the fist Latina Supergirl for DC.
“I saw more than four hundred auditions. The US,Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia . The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role,”
-Andy Muschietti
Calle not only went through an extensive audition process but also did a chemistry test with Ezra Miller before landing the part. Considering the effort that went into casting Calle, it’s probably safe to say The Flash is just the beginning for Supergirl in DC Films, as we also know WB has been kicking aroung a Supergirl script for some time.
The Flash is currently set to begin filming soon and will star Ezra Miller, Billy Crudup, Michael Keaton, and Ben Affleck.
