SDCC17: Marvel Reveals More ‘Inhumans’

Jul 21, 2017

SDCC17 INFO: Marvel replaced their usual “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” panel with their new series, “Inhumans”. Sonya Balmores, Isabelle Cornish, Eme Ikwuakor, Ken Leung, Mike Moh, Anson Mount, Iwan Rheon, Serinda Swan, and Ellen Woglom was joined by director Roel Reine and showrunner Scott Buck. The panel was moderated by Jeph Loeb, Marvel Television Chief.

“Inhumans”‘ major gimmick is that the first two episodes were filmed with Imax cameras and will be shown on Imax screens starting September 1. Some audience members have reported that “Inhumans” was their only trailer at their Imax Dunkirk showing.

Woglom was revealed to be playing a brand new character, Louise, who was affected by terrigenesis on Earth. Fish oil pills anyone? Yes, “Inhumans” will be connected with “Agents of SHIELD.”

In the original comics, it was his brother, Black Bolt (Anson Mount), whose ability suppressed Maximus’ powers.

Panel guests also watched multiple scenes from the series.

Imagine how many hours it would have taken for makeup closer to the comic version?

Instead of telepathy, Black Bolt uses sign language. This continues a trend seen in “Baby Driver” and “The Shape of Water” of main characters using sign language to communicate and perhaps this will turn out not to be a trend at all, but simply another form of communication in media like Spanglish.

“Marvel’s Inhumans” explores the never-before-told epic adventure of the royal family including Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city. After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where they are greeted with surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them. Now they must find a way to reunite with each other and return to their home before their way of life is destroyed forever.

Marvel’s New Television Series ‘Marvel’s Inhumans’ Will Premiere on ABC on Friday, September 29
