SET VISIT: Explore The Sci-Fi Epic ‘Valerian’ with Cara Delevingne

Apr 11, 2016

Luc Besson‘s Valerian and The City of A Thousand Planets is sort of being kept under the radar, but MTV’s Josh Horowitz was able to visit the set during production in Paris, France. Revealing the potential of this cool looking comic book sci-fi adaptation could be.

In the video posted by MTV Josh talks with the actors and Besson about their experience working on the film. Based on the iconic French comic book, it stars Dane DeHaan as the titular Valerian with Suicide Squad‘s Cara Delevingne as Laureline.

The comic book, which began publication in 1967 and is considered an ancestor of Star Wars and Avatar, tells the adventures of two space agents who solve crimes in intergalactic worlds.

Being secretive is one thing, but hiding a project like this when a majority of general audiences have zero knowledge of your source material they might need to actually start give a bit more information. They’ll likely need to be brought-up to speed or the rest of the 2017 summer lineup will cannibalize this movie that looks a lot like things we’ve already seen. I hope when the marketing campaign amps-up they end up giving us a bit more details, barring some Earth-shattering trailer that breaks the internet it could get overlooked.

Besson has a large uphill battle by comparing the project to Star Wars and Avatar.

Luc has also been posting some interesting set photos on his Instagram account and the set visit gives even more fantastic sets to gaze upon.

Valerian will be release in July 2017.
