Daniel Craig has been rumored for a role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens since last year, but it was never confirmed by Lucasfilm. A new quote from Simon Pegg, who is also said that could have role in Awakens as well revealed to The Sun (via The Playlist) that Craig is playing a Stormtrooper in the film while promoting his film Man Up.
“I wasn’t a stormtrooper. Daniel Craig, he was a stormtrooper,” he said before quickly adding “I shouldn’t have said that.”
There’s a couple thoughts here on this reveal. First, Pegg could be playing around with press and wants to remove the spotlight from himself. The second, Daniel is in the film but perhaps might not be specifically in that role stated. Craig’s face might not even be shown on camera or this cameo could be setting-up a bigger role in Episodes VIII and IX. His contract for Bond will be coming to end after one more film, so it’s possible he’s not done with blockbusters and could jump on board the Star Wars train. I guess we’ll know for sure when the film is finally released.
The Force Awakens is blasting onto screens on December 15th, 2015.
