Sly Stallone To Produce and Star In ‘Samaritan’ – A Dark Superhero Drama In The Vein of ‘Unbreakable’

Oct 17, 2018

Deadline has word that Sly Stallone‘s newly formed production company Balboa Productions has nabbed a handful of projects and it sounds like they’ve picked their first project that will see Sly attached to star.

The project is titled Samaritan and is from a spec script written by Bragi F. Schut.

Here is what THR had to say about the project back in 2016 and they did mention it having some similarities to M. Night’s Unbreakable.

The spec script is set 20 years after an epic battle left a city’s supervillain dead and its superhero missing. On the rough side of town, a young boy befriends the old man across the alleyway and as their relationship develops, the boy comes to believe the man is the hero in hiding. The truth, however, proves to be more shocking than the boy could have ever imagined.

According to Deadline they are hoping to get the production up and running sometime next year.

However, a director has yet to be named for Samaritan.

Stallone is currently shooting Rambo 5: Last Blood in Bulgaria and will return the country in the spring to start filming Expendables 4.

It remains to be seen if he’ll be making a return for Guardians of The Galaxy 3, when that eventually shoots after Marvel Studios finds a new director to replace James Gunn.
