‘Smallville’ Stars Tom Welling and Erica Durance Returning for The CW’s ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ Crossover Event

Sep 22, 2019

This week it was announced that Smallville alum stars Tom Welling and Erica Durnace will be returning to play Clark Kent and Lois Lane in The CW’s upcoming mega-crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths. It took the producers quite a bit of convincing to bring Tom Welling back who gave up the role almost 10 years ago. The show will answer the question of what happened to Lois and Clark after Smallville ended:

“For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville. Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it,” said Arrow producer Marc Guggenheim.

Tom Welling will be joining Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh as the third Superman to join the event. However, it is unknown at this point if he will also suit up with the other two as Superman or just stay and play an older Clark Kent. Let’s hope they can also get Michael Rosenbaum back as the ever terrifying Lex Luthor. It’s unlikely Allison Mack will be returning as Chloe Sullivan for the event due to her real-world sex crimes.

The 5-part crossover event begins this December on The CW
