This past weekend I was able to attend yet another convention for the very first time, Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo (SFGE). SFGE was held in Atlanta, GA June 19th-21st and featured over 200 arcade, pinball, and console machines. All the arcade and pinball machines were on free play and were available for sale. The event was great for families and gamers of all ages. My son was able to play multiple pinball machines for the first time as well as some old school arcade games like Galaga. There were home consoles ranging from the Atari 2600 all the way through current generation systems.
The expo floor never felt overcrowded even though there were a large number of people in attendance. We did not wait more than 10 minutes to play any game and every person I interacted with was extremely nice. SFGE is definitely an event I will continue to attend with my son. I even plan to introduce my daughter to it once she’s old enough. The coolest thing I saw was custom built arcades by Monster Arcades. I had never even considered getting a machine in my home until I saw their different products.
