‘Spider-Man’ Actor Tom Holland Screen Tested With Robert Downey Jr & Chris Evans

Yesterday, it was finally revealed that The Impossible actor Tom Holland has officially been cast as Peter Parker in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now The Hollywood Reporter has added some small tidbits to the long casting process that took place for both Sony and Marvel.

First off they report that Marvel Studios casting director Sarah Finn looked at more than 1,500 actors for the role. She eventually narrowed it down to the final 6 Tom Holland, Asa Butterfield, Judah Lewis, Matthew Lintz, Charlie Plummer and Charlie Rowe. It was from here that Holland and Rowe were finally picked and got to screen test with Iron Man himself Robert Downey Jr to see their chemistry with the older Avenger. Both did a great job that they still couldn’t decided on either actor. So Captain America himself Chris Evans came in and screen tested with both actors as well. It was here that Tom Holland came out as the clear choice for the role; only being notified about the part 24 hours prior to the announcement. Tom Holland will also be seen later this year with Thor himself Chris Hemsworth in the film The Heart of the Sea. He will be first introduced in nest years Captain America: Civil War before headlining his own trilogy. Now it’s time to pick a side Holland…
