Marvel Studios & Sony Pictures announced an agreement in February of 2015, the deal was that Spiderman would swing into the MCU [Marvel Cinematic Universe]. The Character shared between the two studios. Appearing in team-up films like The Avengers, as well as his own solo lead films. The question remained though, after the deal, & subsequent re-negotiation that happened to extend, would Sony Take the character back?
No Way Home (To SOny)
Speculation has begun with Spiderman: No Way Home, being the last film under the contract. Millions of dollars later, would Sony See the “green” & send Peter Parker exclusively to their own cinematic ‘spider-verse?’ With Films such as ‘Venom’ & Morbius lacking a key element to their stories, it seems there are only [two] options, bring those films to the MCU in some fashion, or take Spidey to them. Eventually, one or the other would happen.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage broke fans brains, Eddie Brock and Venom were transported into a universe, where Tom Holland is Peter Parker. We still can not 100% confirm it’s the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but, the news cast looked far too familiar.
The Clues of Spidey’s future are adding up, and recently in an interview with Fandango ahead of the latest installment in the MCU, Amy Pascal of Sony Pictures gave some pretty straight answers as to where we stand.
“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie,” Pascal revealed. “We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.” -Amy Pascal, Sony Pictures.
Spiderman Staying for AT LEAST a few more years
This is huge news, as fans of both Spiderman, and the MCU can breathe a little easier. It would be a shame to have had developed the character for so long around the Marvel Universe Proper, only to have an awkward transition back to a world where Ironman Never snapped away Thanos, or Captain America simply had not existed. Not too mention, Zedenya’s “MJ” belongs to Marvel/Disney and wouldn’t be allowed to appear if this were to happen.
