‘Star Trek 4’ Expected To Begin Shooting This January – Eyeing UK and Atlanta As Locations

Jul 17, 2018

Recently, we had a tiny update concerning Paramount’s Star Trek 4, as our friends at ThatHashtagShow revealed that Black Panther actress Danai Gurira could end up playing the film’s female villain and could begin shooting early next year.

Deadline first reported the actress was circling the project along with being in talks to join Godzilla vs Kong, if she takes the role that could begin filming as early as October 1st and could end up conflicting with Star Trek 4 depending on when they would need her.

Well, Omega Underground can support the latter part of THS’ reporting as filming is expected to start sometime this January with locations such as the United Kingdom and Atlanta, Georgia being eyed.

Sometimes during prep phases you’ll see multiple locations in the running but it usually comes down to tax incentives offered and how many stages are ultimately free.

SJ Clarkson is set to direct with an expectation that Chris Hemsworth is still attached to return as Kirk’s father, as time-travel is said to be part of the film’s plot.

It seems a little curious what this could possibly mean for Zoe Saldana, as Guardians 3 is expected to start filming January-February in Atlanta. Then again, Black Panther shot in Georgia alongside the filming of Avengers: Infinity War, but at an entirely different studio.

Paramount hasn’t given Star Trek 4 an official release date but there is a very good chance they could be aiming forĀ 2020.
