‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ Star Ben Mendelsohn Eyed For Villain of ‘Captain Marvel’

Today, Variety announced that Rogue One and Robin Hood: Origins star Ben Mendelsohn is being looked at to star as the main antagonist in Marvel Studios upcoming female superhero movie Captain Marvel. It’s unknown who he will play but with the film introducing the Skrulls to the MCU, it’s expected he will be the leader.

Mendelsohn seems to be now type-cast as Hollywood’s go-to-villain actor. As he was Director Krennic in Star Wars: Rogue One as well as starring as the Sheriff of Nottingham in the upcoming Robin Hood: Origins. He will also be next seen in Ready Player One next year.

This film is expected to take place in the 1990’s before the events of the first Iron Man with star Brie Larson in the lead as Carol Danvers. Nick Fury is also expected to have a large supporting role with Samuel L Jackson returning.

Captain Marvel flies into theaters March 8, 2019
