Stephan James may be in early talks to join the cast of the upcoming ‘Clue’ film, based on the classic board game. He will star alongside Ryan Reynolds, who will also produce the film. Moreover, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will write the screenplay. The writing duo are responsible for the ‘Zombieland’ and ‘Deadpool’ franchises. Allspark Pictures is set to be the production company and 20th Century Fox set to distribute the film.
It is unclear what will happen with the film following the pending Disney/21st Century Fox acquisition. However, it is quite possible that projects such as the ‘Clue’ film will continue into development under the new banner.
Stephan James recently starred in ‘If Beale Street Could Talk.’ The film was nominated for Best Screenplay and Best Picture – Drama at the Golden Globes. Stephan’s co-star Regina King won the Best Supporting Actress Award. The film is also likely to receive nominations in the upcoming Academy Awards.
Next up for the ‘Deadpool’ trio is Michael Bay’s ‘6 Underground,’ with Reese and Wernick for script and Reynolds starring. The film will be released on Netflix sometime this year.
Stephan James will next appear in ‘17 Bridges,’ from Anthony & Joe Russo’s AGBO and STX Entertainment.
