Hello, Wisconsin! Netflix has handed a formal 10-episode series greenlight to That ‘90s Show, a followup spinoff to the hit Fox series That ‘70s Show.
The spinoff will center around Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp’s beloved That ‘70s Show characters Red Forman and Kitty Forman. Smith and Rupp will reprise their roles and executive produce the spinoff alongside creator and showrunner Gregg Mettler, Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner, and their daughter Lindsay Turner.
“Hello, Wisconsin! It’s 1995 and Leia Forman, daughter of Eric and Donna, is visiting her grandparents for the summer where she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red. Sex, drugs and rock ’n roll never dies, it just changes clothes,” the official logline for That ‘90s Show reads.
Smith and Rupp are the only original cast members attached to the project so far, but producers expect a number of familiar faces, including Topher Grace (Eric), Laura Prepon (Donna), and Ashton Kutcher (Kelso), to guest star.
That ‘70s Show lasted for eight seasons on Fox between 1998 and 2006, starring Smith, Rupp, Grace, Prepon, Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Danny Masterson, Laura Wilmer Valderrama and Lisa Robin Kelly starred in the period sitcom that focused on the lives of a group of six teenage friends living in fictional Point Place, Wisconsin, from May 17, 1976, to December 31, 1979.
Marcy Carsey and Tom Werner under the Carsey-Werner Company also executive produce.
