‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ Disney+ Series Taps Director Kari Skogland; Daniel Brühl & Emily VanCamp in Talks to Join Cast

May 20, 2019

Marvel Studios and Disney+ are kicking their first limited series into gear, as we have several new details! The show will be lead by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, reprising their roles as the titular characters.

But that’s not all! They won’t be the only ones returning, as Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter aka Agent 13) and Daniel Brühl (Zemo) are in talks to join the cast.

Also, director Kari Skogland will helm the series, from writer Malcolm Spellman (‘Our Family Wedding,’ ‘Empire’). Skogland is no stranger to Marvel, having directed an episode of Netflix’s ‘The Punisher.’ Other credits include History’s ‘Vikings,’ both of AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Fear the Walking Dead,’ FX’s ‘The Americans,’ and several episodes of Hulu’s ‘The Handmaid’s Tale.’ Next, she has the AMC series ‘NOS4A2,’ premiering June 2nd, and Showtime’s miniseries ‘The Loudest Voice,’ premiering June 30th.

A little taste of what the show will handle was given as well:

“[Sam] accepting the shield from Captain America at the end of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ will figure into the miniseries.

Filming will begin this October in Atlanta, Georgia.

The miniseries will be six episodes long, and air August 2020, on the Disney+ streaming service.
