The Rock and Henry Cavill Tease Black Adam and Superman Showdown; Will It Be In ‘Shazam’ Or ‘Man of Steel 2’?

Dec 26, 2016

The Rock has so many projects on the go right now it’s hard to keep up with.

One that has been in the pipeline forever now is DC Comics superhero movie Shazam in which the former wrestler turned actor will play Black Adam, the films anti-villain.

News has went radio silent on the film for a while, but over the Christmas holidays The Rock shared a picture of him and Superman actor Henry Cavill (who also shared the image) enjoying each others company.

It isn’t uncommon for actors to spend time together, especially since both men are under the same management company, run by The Rock’s ex-wife Danny Garcia.

But something that’s caught fans attention on the post is a certain hashtag in the caption saying “DC Worlds Will Collide” hinting that the two actors may be about to share some screen-time on a certain superhero movie.

The full caption said:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Black Adam and Superman (@henrycavill). Today we drink like gentleman and come together as friends. We’re excited for what the future brings. #DangerousGentlemen #DCWorldsWillCollide #BlackSavagery #MyExfoliatedBaldHeadAndTattoos #LookHellaSexyInThisLighting

Could Henry Cavill be in talks about reprising his role as Superman in Shazam? Or perhaps even better, could The Rock be playing the baddie in the Man of Steel sequel which is now in active development?

If Cavill does appear in Shazam in a sort of extend cameo role, that would be the connective tissue with the rest of the DC Extended Universe. He could perhaps help Billy Batson/Shazam in his quest to stop Black Adam.

Now whats even more of an attractive opportunity for Warner Bros, is to throw Black Adam into the ring with Superman in the Man of Steel sequel. One because The Rock is box office gold, and two because Black Adam’s magical abilities and his power and ruthlessness gives him a major advantage over Supes, especially since the Kryptonian is weakened by magic. It also provides a different type of villain for Superman to contend with, one that isn’t alien.

Just as long as the Man of Steel sequel truly focuses on Supes and is not someway hijacked and made into a Shazam origin story I’ll be happy.
