The Wild Update. Minecraft 1.19. It’s here… well, almost. The newest update is landing June 7th, and just what will this new update bring? Well, some things have been removed – let us bow our heads in remembrance of the Firefly mob. Two biomes are being added, and each bring something new, and exciting to the game.
The Wild Update: The Deep Dark/ Ancient Cities
The first biome, is the Deep Dark, or the Ancient Cities. Inside these incredibly dark biomes are a variety of “skulks”. Some alert the warden, some sense the player’s movement, while all are just eerie – and completely wonderful. The big draw, is the new mob: the Warden; a large, lumbering creature that will attack anything that moves. This is why sneaking will become a very important mechanic in this new update. Along with using wool to block the skulk sensors, sneaking will allow you to move without making any sound. But, sneaking is so slow, right? Well, the Deep Dark comes with a new enchantment for your armor. A new sneak enchantment will allow you to sneak, without giving up your speed. Cool, right?
The WIld Update: Mangrove Swamps
The second biome in the Wild Update, is the Mangrove Swamp. That’s right, we now have two different swamp biomes. However, I’m partial to the newest one. We have a new tree! And with a new tree, comes a new wood type.
(Let’s ignore the Azalea Tree for that comment).
The Mangrove Tree supplies players with a somewhat deep red colored wood – a gorgeous wood color, may I just say. And yes, we get doors, trapdoors, etc, as well. But this isn’t all the new biome gives us. We get the new mud block, and when it’s heated. we get mud bricks! That’s right, a whole new brick block to play with. It’s a neutral beige tone, which would certainly be easier to match with.
A Brand New mobs!
That’s right folks, and no, I’m talking about the Warden. We get two new mobs, and boy are they cool. The first one is the Allay. This cute little blue creature, once tamed by the player, will help you gather any block of your choice. From what I’ve seen, they can spawn in Pillager Outposts. They may spawn in Woodland Mansions, but I am not 100% confident. The second mob, is the Frog. Yes, we are getting Frogs in Minecraft. These beauties come in three colors: orange, green, and white, depending on the biome they are found/spawned in. If you feed these Frogs small Magma Cubes from the Nether, they drop “Frog Lights”. New light blocks, too? I know! Each light color (more of a hint of color) corresponds with the color of Frog emitting the new block.
The Wild Update isn’t all wild. The Deep Dark is more eerie, and terrifying. However, if we focus on the new Frog mobs, and the Mangrove Swamp Biome…
Then yes. This is indeed a Wild Update.
Of course, fans are already speculating what 1.20 may bring in the future. Let’s hope for the Archaeology Update next!
