With cameras set to roll this September in Atlanta, James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’ has adopted the working title “El Dorado.” It’s currently unknown what the story will revolve around, but this title could give us a little clue. El Dorado is a Spanish legend that initially started out as a story about a man who covered himself in gold and drowned himself in a lake, but over time, the legend grew larger until eventually it became about a hidden empire made of solid gold.
It was recently revealed by Collider that a gender-bent Ratcatcher, King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, and Peacemaker (a role which Gunn is supposedly eyeing frequent collaborator Dave Bautista for) would be featured as new members of the Squad. Variety revealed Will Smith has also dropped out of the role of Deadshot, but THR confirmed Idris Elba is already in talks to replace him. Margot Robbie is also expected to reprise her role as Harley Quinn. ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director James Gunn is writing and directing the pic. It currently has an August 2021 release date, just six weeks after Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman.’
