‘Thor: Ragnarok’ About To Cross $800M Globally On It’s Way Towards $900M

Nov 30, 2017

Thor: Ragnarok has surpassed expectations and is about to cross the $800 million mark globally. Box Office Mojo states the film is $6.5 million away from hitting that benchmark making the film the highest grossing in the Thor franchise and the third Marvel Studios film to cross $800 million in 2017, alongside Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

It’s possible Thor: Ragnarok could inch to a final total in the $900 million range.

Writer/director/actor Taika Waititi pulled off a miracle with Ragnarok, considering the Thor films have been long considered the weakest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We suspect his future at the studio has been cemented and has suggested an interest to tackle Thor 4.

The Russo Brothers ended up tackling the next two Avengers installments after Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War became massive hits. There is an expectation with the Russos teasing an extended break from the MCU after making Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 back-to-back, that someone like Taika could be asked to tackle whatever the next big crossover (be it Secret Wars, World War Hulk, or something else).
