While speaking with fans on Twitter, Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson clarified her character’s sexual orientation. Stating that Valkyrie was bi-sexual, which is a big deal.
While there has been some ambiguity towards Wonder Woman also having similar orientation in the DCEU, this would make Valkyrie the first Marvel character in the MCU to identify as LGBTQ.
This could lead to adding openly lesbian/gay characters like Moondragon, Phyla-Vell, and Hercules in future Marvel films.
There is some hope with Valkyrie being a huge breakout in the film Marvel will give her the Thor mantle or her own spinoff. Tessa has suggested the studio should develop an all-female lineup Marvel film, not unlike A-Force.
