Tom Hiddleston Calls James Bond Role An “Extraordinary Opportunity”

Mar 13, 2016

It’s still up-in-the-air if we’ll be seeing another Daniel Craig led 007 movie, and if actor Mark Strong is to be believed we won’t be. As the close friend to Craig revealed a couple weeks back that Daniel is ultimately done with the role.

We’ve heard about plenty of candidates that could be looked at to replace Craig in Bond 25 and there’s a new one voicing their interest in the iconic MI6 Agent.

While speaking to the Sunday Times (via The Guardian), Tom Hiddleston (Kong: Skull Island, Crimson Peak, Avengers, Thor, High Rise) revealed a desire for the role along with being a huge fan of the franchise.

“Time magazine ran a poll and there were, like, 100 actors on the list, including Angelina Jolie. But, yes, it’s nice to be included in the 100.”

“I’m a huge fan of the series. We all went to see Spectre when we were shooting Skull Island in Hawaii. I simply love the theme tune, the tropes and the mythology. I love the whole thing. If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity.” He added: “And I’m very aware of the physicality of the job. I would not take it lightly.”

The Guardian points out Tom’s posh schooling which includes both Eton and Cambridge University, something I think might go a long way to play Bond, a gentleman aristocrat turned spy.

It’s all well and good, but it does seem like other heavy weights like Damien Lewis, Idris Elba, and Michael Fassbender have topped James Bond recasting lists, and might be more favorite to land the role.

He’s already playing spy in the John le Carré mini-series The Night Manager, is this a conflict or a preview of what’s to come?

Who would you like to see take over the James Bond role?
