Trailer: ‘Guardians’ Is A Cool New Russian Superhero Film You’ve Probably Never Heard Of

Aug 25, 2016

2016 has already seen its fair share of superhero movies. From Deadpool to Batman V Superman, Captain America: Civil War to Suicide Squad and before year’s end we also have Marvel’s Doctor Strange.

Like most, we sometimes forget there’s international studios out there who want a piece of the superhero action. And that’s where this new superhero film comes in. GuardiansĀ also known as Zashchitniki, is a Russian superhero film directed by Armenian filmmaker Sarik Andreasyan, who’s only US film release so far has been American Heist.

Guardians follows a set of mutants that are recruited by the Russian government to fight against a supervillain. Set during the cold war, it features characters with different nationalities from the Soviet Union. One of them can turn into a bear and carries about a machine gun, there’s also a guy that’s fast and handy with a knife.

Now I’d say watch the Russian trailer with subtitles, as the English dubbed one made me focus far too much on what their mouths were doing, but you can make your own decisions.
