For many people, gaming has been a large part of their lives for years and they have great memories of late night gaming sessions with family and friends. Regardless of what your gaming choice is, whether it’s first person shooters or online casino, you’ll have fond memories that will live on forever. Gaming has always been a massive genre, and when the internet really blew onto the scene, this elevated gaming to a whole new level.

All of a sudden, friends from across the country could play together instantly, eliminating the need for meeting up allowing you to play anywhere and anytime. This opened up numerous options and possibilities for players, as they were no longer constrained by location, allowing them to play regardless of their location or time zone.

In this article we’ll be taking a look at some of the top gaming trends and what is causing an increase in popularity of gaming around the world.

Mobile gaming

Previously, if you wanted to play your favourite game, you’d have to wait until you’re home, turn on your console and play. However, these days, with more and more people gaining access to smartphones, they’re able to play their favourite games wherever they want. Regardless if you’re on the way to work, on a lunch break or even tucked up in bed, if you fancy playing, you can just log onto your phone and play.

For example, it’s a winter morning and you’re warm in bed but you fancy a quick game of poker, you’re able to log in on your phone and play without the need to leave the warmth of the bed, meaning you can be both comfortable and warm!

With just how powerful smartphones are becoming, you’re already able to play AAA games such as EA FC Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile which are mobile versions of the console games, just showing how close they are to the full versions!

Cloud Gaming

Still relatively new, Cloud gaming is still considered a game changer. Fancy hopping on with your friends but don’t have your console with you? No problem, just grab any device connected to the internet along with a controller and you’re good to go. Cloud gaming essentially allows you to stream your game from the cloud directly to your device via the internet, meaning no hardware is required.

Whilst this is great in certain situations, the only downside to this is it is reliant on your internet connection, so if you have poor or slow connection, you’ll struggle to play.v however if your connection is good, then you shouldn’t have any issues at all and it should be difficult to see any real difference.

Esports

Having been around for a few years now, the competitive side of gaming is a mammoth in the industry and one that people compete in for years to try and come out as champion. There’s an Esports competition for virtually any game you can think of, however the most popular would be Call of Duty, EA FC and CS go.

All these have massive followings of both participants and fans, with each year millions tuning in to watch the finals to see who is crowned champion. With millions on the line in prize money, it’s no surprise to see so many people practicing for years to try to win.

It’s gotten so big that in games such as EA FC, you have official clubs having Esports teams, with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City having pros playing for them, Liverpool even have one of their own professional football players in their Esports team in Diogo Jota!

AR

Augmented reality has taken the world by storm in recent years, with most major companies now trying to capitalise on this. The likes of Meta having recently brought out a new Meta Quest VR headset that allows you to use both Augmented reality and Virtual reality.

These headsets are like nothing you’ve used before and can be an incredible experience for new players, with games being developed specifically for them to fully take advantage of the mixed reality world. Whilst these are some incredible pieces of equipment, there’s still so much room for them to grow and expand to make them even bigger!

Gaming is a massive part of our lives, and with how quickly it’s growing even after all these years, it’s clear there’s no sign of it slowing down anytime soon. Millions of people play games each day, either casually or professionally, and with the amount of games out there, you can never run out of games to try!

With all these different ways to play, are you making the most of your gaming experience? If not which one will you be giving a go first?
