After spending almost a decade in development, JC Chandor’s ‘Triple Frontier’ has finally come together. The film stars Ben Affleck, Charlie Hunnam, Pedro Pascal, Garret Hedlund, Oscar Isaac, and Adria Arjona. The first trailer was officially released last night and you can check it out below.
The project has had a very difficult production history, which began a little over eight years ago. In November of 2010, Kathryn Bigelow was set to direct with Tom Hanks and Johnny Depp starring. After a five-year production delay, JC Chandor replaced Bigelow and Hanks was in talks to star alongside Will Smith. In January of 2016, Will Smith had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts and Depp circled back around to replace him. A year after that, Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy entered talks to join while Hanks and Depp dropped out. Mahershala Ali and Adria Arjona were tapped to star alongside Tatum and Hardy. Things seemed to be on track until Paramount dropped the film in April 2017, one month before filming was set to begin. This caused both Hardy and Tatum to drop out of the film, while Ali and Arjona were still attached. A month later, Ben and Casey Affleck were set to take over Hardy and Tatum’s roles. Ben Affleck exited a month after that for personal reasons. Mark Wahlberg entered talks to replace Affleck a few weeks later, with Pedro Pascal, Charlie Hunnam, and Garret Hedlund joining him. The pic finally got off the ground last March when Netflix purchased the right, which caused Affleck to rejoin.
‘Triple Frontier’ will release in March of 2019.
