Undiscovered Country #12 may have more action than the previous 11 issues combined. Not quite sure how some of it’s possible in Scott Snyder and Charles Soule’s world. Doesn’t seem like we’ll get an answer on that in the near future either.
Something that stood out in this issue was Dr. Jain’s passion for Unity. Amidst the chaos in Undiscovered Country #12, she calmly backs her plan while addressing the Graves’ group — after imprisoning them last issue. The group probably would’ve been a lot more open to promoting Unity’s concept if the good doctor had taken the more peaceful approach in the first place. Hard to imagine Dr. Jain’s desperate need to control the situation sat well with anyone; certainly didn’t go over well with the group.
All that being said, if each zone is expected to be an exaggerated version of one idea, it’s hard to imagine anyone will get a thumbs up from the Graves’ group. Seems like that’s the message of this whole story: the best plans are driven by blend of ideas and viewpoints.
(WARNING: Spoilers for Undiscovered Country #12 ahead.)
Dr. Jain’s shift in approach to the group before they departed really was rattling. A switch was clearly flipped. Have to wonder if she’s simply mad (likely) or recognized the errors in her ways.
Also, no shot this next zone is an improvement from Unity. But, it should be a fun ride.
