UPDATE: Disney To Begin Shooting ‘Mulan’ This August In New Zealand and China

It was revealed yesterday that Donnie Yen would be joining newcomer Yifei Liu in Disney’s live-action Mulan movie directed by Whale Rider’s Niki Caro.

We have an update concerning the production which got delayed.

Omega Underground has learned that filming will begin sometime this August with production locales we’ve confirmed to be various places in New Zealand and China.

Caro spent a good chunk of time doing location scouting for the film in China.

She is also assembling her crew which includes cinematographer Mandy Walker (Hidden Figures, Australia).

Disney has given Mulan the updated release date of March 27th, 2020.
