Fans of the ABC series Once Upon A Time were in shock when it was announced that many of the principal leads of the series would not be returning to the series next season. Here what we know so far about the next season of the series.
Series lead Jennifer Morrison (Emma) was set to leave the series at the end of the sixth season. Subsequently, additional members of the cast left as well including Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White), Josh Dallas (Prince Charming), Emilie de Ravin (Belle), Rebecca Mader (Wicked Witch of the West) and Jared Gilmore (Henry). With the bulk of the principal cast leaving the series, the producers have decided to reboot Once Upon A Time with a cast of new and old characters.
Variety has reported that the studio has cast 5 new actors in leading roles including Gabrielle Anwar (Burn Notice), Mekia Cox (Chicago Med), Rose Reynolds (Wasted) and Adelaide Kane (Reign). The next season is set to focus on an adult Henry played by The Walking Dead’s Andrew J. West as he is confronted by his long lost daughter Lucy played by Alison Fernandez. Lucy will send Henry on a mission to save his family, much like the premise of the first few seasons.
The seventh season will also focus on the remaining cast members including Lana Parrilla (The Evil Queen/ Regina), Robert Carlyle (Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin) and Colin O’Donoghue (Captain Hook). Episodes will focus on the relationship between Henry and Lucy’s mother as well as Regina’s reaction to an adult Henry.
Once Upon A Time returns for its seventh season this Fall.
