The trailer premiered this morning on ABC’s “Good Morning America”. Felicity Jones plays a “reckless, aggressive and undisciplined rebel who goes by the name of Jyn Erso. Rogue One, which takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, tells the story of unlikely heroes who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star.
Since this story takes place prior to A New Hope, it appears this is the moment we see the Empire’s power at its peak. We see the return of the Death Star, AT-AT walkers, as well as a glimpse of Stormtroopers with new designs. At the 1:18 mark, we get brief look at the (new?) villain of the film. Since this film takes place prior to A New Hope, I’m hoping to see the return of the Darth Vader.
The cast includes Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and Riz Ahmed. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and produced by Kathleen Kennedy.
Rogue One will hit theaters on December 16, 2016.
