According to Hollywood Reporter character actor Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man, The Grand Budapest, John Wick) has signed-on for Legendary Pictures’ The Great Wall. It’ll be directed by Zhang Yimou (House of Flying Daggers, The Flowers of War, Hero) with a script from World War Z writer Max Brooks and Matt Damon is in final negotiations to take the lead role.
A soldier who is part of a group of mercenaries traveling to China in order to bring back gunpowder to Europe. When the group is attacked by mystical beasts, the man finds himself in a war between a secret warrior clan and the beasts.
The Great Wall has been slated for a release on November 23rd, 2016.
