‘Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory’ To Get Rebooted Yet Again..as a Prequel

Oct 19, 2016

Well, that didn’t take long. Only mere months after the passing of acting legend Gene Wilder; Warner Brothers gears up to reboot the actor’s classic film Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory after acquiring the film rights. This time around Harry Potter producer David Heyman will help reinvent this reboot for a new audience. . This will actually be the second reboot after Johnny Depp took on the role of Willy Wonka in 2005’s Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. However, this time this film will tell the origin story on Willy Wonka’s early adventures. No writer or director is attached yet.

It seems to be in poor taste to announce a reboot of a classic film the same year after the original actor passes away. But again studios will do what studio’s do best…Only time will tell if Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) is fan-cast in this role amongst his many other projects.
