‘Wonder Woman 2’ Shooting Stateside After All – Diana Working Alongside The U.S. Government?

Mar 18, 2018

Omega Underground has learned a new detail about the Wonder Woman 2 (Magic Hour) production. The sequel will indeed film in the United States and where it’s shooting might actually reveal something to do with the film’s plot.

We’ve learned that Wonder Woman 2 will be filming scenes this June in and around the area of Northern Virginia/District of Columbia.

Director Patty Jenkins did suggest to EntertainmentWeekly the film would be set in the United States.

“The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right. She’s Wonder Woman. She’s got to come to America. It’s time.”

Why could these filming locations be important to the story?

Well, Washington D.C. is home to The White House (Senate/House of Reps) and the C.I.A. headquarters just happens to be located in Virginia. There’s a strong possibility that the U.S. Government could be getting involved in the film which isn’t terribly surprising due to the 1980s Cold-War setting and the Soviet Union already said to be part of the plot.

Whether Diana is working for the Americans has to yet to be determined but there’s a good chance as the modern version of Steve Trevor happens to be a C.I.A. Agent. The agency didn’t exist during World War I which is why the Chris Pine version was simply an Allied spy. Possibly this could be how they insert the next male lead or reintroduce Chris Pine as rumored. This is just our speculation.

An 80’s incarnation of A.R.G.U.S. (seen in Suicide Squad) could make a return as well as Trevor worked for them too.

There is still an expectation that they’ll be filming stage stuff over the summer in the United Kingdom.

Kristen Wiig officially plays the villainess Cheetah, while Gal Gadot reprises the titular role.

Filming begins on May 28th with a release date of November 1st, 2019.
