‘X-Men Apocalypse’ Set Photo Teasing Return Of The Danger Room?

Feb 9, 2015

Bryan Singer has been actively using his Twitter account to announce new cast members and reveal set photos, he first did this during the production of X-Men Days of Future Past and is seemingly doing the same for X-Men Apocalypse.

This recent set photo he’s posted on Twitter and Instagram is of a familiar door but promises “something new” will be behind it. All signs currently point towards the return of the Danger Room.

It’s a training facility used to battle-harden the members of the X-Men team, it’s of course off-limits to the students.

The Danger Room has seemingly already been in established in this era of the X-Men as seen in the image below where Havoc is in a similar training-room during a couple of scenes in X-Men First Class. Where he was allowed to let his powers loose on dummy targets, I assume this could be our first seeds of the Danger Room returning.

Singer had originally wanted to use battle training-room in X-Men 2 but it got too costly and it was scrapped from the film. It was eventually seen in Brett Ratner’s X-Men 3 and even teased the sentinels, another expensive endeavour that was originally in both Singer and Matthew Vaughn’s version of the third film but never got the studio’s approval.

I’ll be curious what version we’ll end-up seeing in the film, will it be filled with robotic threats or will it use more advanced holographic/virtual reality technology?

The returning cast for the film officially includes Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, along with new additions Oscar Isaacs as Apocalypse, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, and Alexandra Shipp as Storm.

We haven’t had official word if Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will be joining the film but he was certainly vague enough while speaking Happy Sad Confused to give the impression it’s very possible. The talk has been that Logan could end-up becoming one of Apocalypse’s evil Four Horsemen.

I have been speaking with the guys and I am not at liberty to tell exactly what’s going on. Which is largely framing my answer here. But there’s still a lot unknown, actually, about that. What I do know is there are some very exciting things about integrating the whole X-Men world, including the Wolverine movie. There’s some really cool things going on.

However, Jackman is officially attached for the untitled sequel to The Wolverine which is set for release in 2017.

Apocalypse is set for release on May 27th, 2017 and production is about to begin soon in Montreal.
