‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ and ‘The New Mutants’ Release Dates Get Pushed Back Again

Mar 27, 2018

At the beginning of the year it looked like Fox was going to release 3 X-Men related films; which included The New Mutants in April, Deadpool 2 in May and X-Men: Dark Phoenix in November. However, due to Gambit losing it’s director and the film being pushed back. Then, New Mutants test screenings not going over well the studio pushed back New Mutants almost 10 months to 2019 to accommodate extensive re-shoots.

Now the studio has revealed that X-Men: Dark Phoenix will now also be pushed back to 2019. That film will now hit Gambit’s original release date of February 14th, 2019. While The New Mutants will get pushed back even further to August 2nd, 2019. Gambit is completely up in the air at this point with no director attached currently. However, recent filming dates have stated that film could start filming this summer.

It should be noted that the Fox/Disney merger is expected to be finalized in early 2019. Which has many speculating that New Mutants and Gambit may never actually see the light of day. With Disney/Marvel possibly scrapping the entire thing. However, that is again pure speculation.

Never-the-less Deadpool 2 is still slated for May 18th
