The Hollywood Reporter has learned that The Get Down’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen is now in early talks for the role of DC supervillain and treasure hunter Black Manta in James Wan’s Aquaman movie.
Yahya would be joining co-stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, and Willem Dafoe as production is set to begin on the Gold Coast of Australia starting this May.
Apparently, he was also a candidate for the role of Lando Calrissian in Han Solo: A Story War Story before Donald Glover landed the part.
We’ll have to wait and see how Black Manta factors into the film.
