Dragon Con announced that a record attendance of over 80,000 people from all over world descended on Atlanta for the internationally known pop culture celebration that takes place over the Labor Day weekend holiday. According to Dragon Con co-chair Rachel Reeves, “Every year, Dragon Con seems to get bigger and better and 2017 was no different.” “Pop culture fans came from every corner of planet to join in the fun.  This year, we gave them a show worth travelling for.”

Food Network star Alton Brown announced the return of his colorful Good Eats program, called Return of the Eats, that will air on Food Network beginning in 2018. “We’re restarting it. We’re bringing it back. We’re getting the band back together,” Brown told a standing-room-only Dragon Con audience.

A new addition to the event, a cash prize eSports event for professional gamers was live streamed on Twitch and received enough of an audience from Twitch and attendance by professional gamers that the program will be back in 2018 based on the popularity of the fans.

The con was also an opportunity to give back to the community with some 3,000 attendees getting into the spirit by donating nearly 6,000 units of blood and blood products for the Robert A. Heinlein “Pay It Forward” blood drive.
