When it was announced that fan favorite series Young Justice would be returning, fans speculated on which channel the series would appear. While many were hoping that it might return to Cartoon Network, it looks like it will be making its home somewhere else.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the third season of the series titled Young Justice: Outsiders will premiere on Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment’s new digital service, which will debut in 2018. According to Warner Brothers:
The new installment, Young Justice: Outsiders, centers on the teenage superheroes of the DC Universe come of age in an animated world of superpowers, super-villains and super-secrets. In the highly anticipated new season, the team faces its greatest challenge yet as it takes on meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy.
Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!, Justice League Action) is executive producer, with Brandon Vietti (Batman: Under the Red Hood) and Greg Weisman (Star Wars Rebels) set to produce the series with Phil Bourassa returning as the series’ art director.
With more and more networks expanding into the digital world, it will be interesting to see how DC and Warner Brothers will find a place in the market and what new offerings they will add to get users to subscribe.
