Yesterday, THR revealed that Sony had officially greenlit Zombieland 2 with director Ruben Fleischer and the cast set to return. That original lineup included Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, and Jesse Eisenberg.
They also suggested that production could begin as early as next January as they plan on releasing the film next October.
Well, Omega Underground has learned of a couple potential locations for the film including a return to Atlanta, Georgia, where the original film was shot. Along with possibly scenes shot in the state of Tennessee, which could be directly tied to Woody Harrelson’s character who uses the state’s name as his alias.
Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville could be awesome cities to film in but we haven’t figured out which cities will ultimately be used.
Once we get production dates we will update.
No much is known about the sequel except for rumblings the group will be facing a new type of “super-zombie”.
Ruben Fleischer’s next film Venom is set to make splash at San Diego Comic-Con next week as it starts making it’s marketing push for the October release date. I’m sure we’ll be getting some more updates when Ruben makes the press rounds at Comic-Con.
Sony is expected to release the film sometime in October of next year.
