Paramount has made some adjustments to their upcoming release schedule. There is one date shift, a new film settling in its place, and a removal of a film altogether.
First off, the live-action/hybrid feature adaptation of ‘Rugrats’ is now crawling to January 29, 2021. The film currently has no cast, writers or director onboard the film.
Meanwhile, the original ‘Rugrats’ date of November 13, 2020 now has a different live-action/hybrid feature adaptation: ‘Clifford the Big Red Dog.’ Director Walt Becker (‘Old Dogs,’ ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip’) will tackle the untitled film. The screenplay is from Ellen Rapoport (‘The Starlet’), Blaise Hemingway (‘Playmobil: The Movie’), and Justin Malen (‘Father Figures’).
Lastly, ‘Are You Afraid of the Dark,’ yet another television show feature adaptation, is now off the schedule entirely. The film had director D.J. Caruso (‘Disturbia,’ ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’) set to direct, with a screenplay written by Gary Dauberman (both ‘It’ movies and all three ‘Annabelle’ films) and BenDavid Grabinski (‘Skiptrace’).
The film was going to release October 11, 2019, before moving up to October 4. Now, it is unknown where it will be going. Also, filming has not yet begun, as far as we know.
