Showtime’s ‘Halo’ television series has cast Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief. But, it is unknown if this iteration of the Spartan commando will remain masked like his video game counterpart.
Schreiber (brother of ‘Ray Donovan’ actor Liev) was recently in the second season of Starz’s ‘American Gods.’ Last year, he was in STX Entertainment’s ‘Den of Thieves,’ as well as two Universal films: ‘Skyscraper’ and ‘First Man.’ Also, he had a prominent role in the Netflix series ‘Orange is the New Black.’ Next he has the Apple miniseries ‘Defending Jacob,’ which is currently filming.
Meanwhile, Australian newcomer Yerin Ha will play a new character in the Halo universe: Quan Ah.
The character description is below:
“A shrewd, audacious 16-year-old from the Outer Colonies who meets Master Chief at a fateful time for them both.”
Moreover, several months ago Otto Bathurst came in to replace ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ director Rupert Everett, who had to depart due to “changes to the production schedule.” He will direct multiple episodes and executive produce the video game adaptation.
Bathurst recently directed the gazillionth remake of ‘Robin Hood.’ But, in other (better) credits, he did the pilot of ‘Black Mirror,’ as well as several episodes of ‘Peaky Blinders.’ He also helmed two episodes of the upcoming BBC and HBO series ‘His Dark Materials.’
Kyle Killen (‘Awake,’ ‘Mind Games’) and Steven Kane (‘The Closer,’ ‘The Last Ship’) serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. The season will be 9 episodes, one less than the original order of 10.
Further, the series was looking to begin filming on June 17th in Budapest. However, it may end up being this fall now.
At this point, the show will likely not air this year.
