The classic 1966 Batman series is returning in a brand new animated film, Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, which will also bring back the return of Adam West, Burt Ward and Julie Newmar as Batman, Robin and Catwoman. The film will also include Joker, Riddler and the Penguin.

The original series ran from 1966 to 1969. One thing I’d love to see from the animated film is a nod of some sort to the late Yvonne Craig. Craig played Batgirl in the original series.

Based on the trailer, the new animated film will follow the tone of the original series, which is a clearly a huge departure from the recent depiction of Bats in Batman V Superman or the latest animated film The Killing Joke. Those who grew up watching the original series, are a fan of Batman, or feeling a bit nostalgic may not want to miss this one.

Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders hits Digital HD on Oct. 11 and Blu-ray on Nov. 1.
