Amazon Studios Enlists Derek Kolstad to wrtie ‘Hellsing’ adaptation

The man behind John Wick has been tapped by Amazon Studios to scribe an adaptation of the action-horror manga series Hellsing Deadline reports.

“Ever since my brother introduced me to the Hellsing manga and anime some years ago, I’ve been obsessed with adapting it,” and when Mike Callaghan and his team managed to secure the rights to then partner us up with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Amazon, I mean -damn, dude- this is a dream.”

The manga was originally written by Kouta Hirano and published by Shonen Gahosha. The story follows a character named Alucard, an reimagines Dracula as a member of the Hellsing organization who’s goal is to protect England fromm the world of the supernatural and fight off creatures of the night. The series also follows a new member to the Hellsing organization and ex-cop named Seras.

The project will be produced by Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger of Automatik, Mike Callaghan and Reuben Liber of Ranger 7 Films, Jason Lust of Soluble Fish Productions, and Kolstad. Also included on the project are exectuive producers Gemma Levinson, Tetsu Fujimura, India Osborne, Pierre Buffin, and Jason Speer.
