Struggling to make gold in WoW Classic and desperately need some solid farming spots? We’ve got you covered! In this guide, we’ve put together a list of fantastic WoW Classic gold farms that are easy to pull off if you’re playing an AoE-heavy class. For maximum efficiency, we recommend doing the farms as a Mage, but if that’s not an option, any AoE class will do the trick.
Ready to fill your pockets with gold? Let’s get started!
Lasher Farm
Starting off in Dire Maul East, head left to the ledge and jump down into The Conservatory. If you’re playing a Mage, make sure to Blink before hitting the ground to avoid fall damage.
The mobs we’re after here are called Whip Lashers. These are non-Elite, so feel free to pull entire groups at once, as they are super easy to AoE down. These mobs have a massive loot table packed with various herbs, which you can sell at the Auction House for a decent profit, with a chance to make around 60 gold per hour. While farming, be sure to avoid patrols and Elites—they hit hard and can quickly turn your gold run into a headache.
If you have Herbalism, there are tons of nodes scattered around, and you can farm them for even better profits. Plus, there’s always a chance to snag some valuable BoEs, which you can either vendor, auction, or disenchant for extra gold.
Hound Farm
For this farm, you’ll need Skinning at around 280 skill level. The spot is in Dire Maul North, and the mobs you’ll be farming are Gordok Mastiffs.
As soon as you enter, head left and look for a ramp leading down to an area where a bunch of ogres are hanging out by a campfire. The hounds we’re after are patrolling nearby. Along the walls surrounding this area, you’ll see a ledge—that’s where you’ll want to pull the mobs.
Once you’ve aggroed the pack, start your AoE damage while they make their way to you. When they get too close, jump down—they won’t jump after you but will instead run back around the ledge to reach you again. This trick buys you time and gives you more chances to damage them safely. Keep jumping back and forth, forcing the hounds to follow the long path while you AoE them down. Once the entire pack is dead, skin them for Rugged Leather, which is where most of your gold will come from.
These hounds also have a chance to drop valuable BoEs, so with a bit of luck, you’ll make even more gold. If you want to squeeze out extra profit, you can also farm Carrion Swarmer scarabs, which roam nearby.
Sunken Temple Farm
Once inside Sunken Temple, head left and keep going until you reach the stairs. Climb all the way up, then take a right at the top. When you reach the Pit of Sacrifice, jump down at an angle from the left side (Mages, don’t forget to Blink to avoid fall damage).
From there, head left toward the candle and jump onto the ledge—this is a safe spot where you can drop combat, and mobs won’t be able to reach you. Continue through the Temple of Atal’Hakkar to the Chamber of the Dreamer, staying on the ledge safe zones along the walls. Your main targets here are the two big dragons. Pull them toward the boss and wait for the red-text yell in chat—this signals the start of the scenario where the boss summons all dragonkin mobs in the instance. While they’re gathering, stay in a safe spot until most are in position. Once the pack is ready, start pulling and lead them back to the Pit of Sacrifice. If you’re playing a Mage, you can stack them up using Blizzard and AoE them down from a safe spot. Repeat the process until all mobs are wiped out.
This farm brings in around 60-80 gold per hour, and if you have Skinning, you can rake in even more coins.
Zul’Farrak Graveyard Farm
This is a Mage-only farm, but on the bright side, you don’t need any serious gear and can start as early as level 42. Here, you’re looking at around 50 raw gold just from vendoring all your loot, plus some solid BoEs for extra profit.
In Zul’Farrak, make your way to the graveyard and reach the first boss without pulling any mobs. Once there, pull the boss and start opening the graves on the right side. There’s a safe spot behind two urns in the corner—get there to drop combat and reset aggro if needed. Then throw on your Mana Shield and Ice Barrier and keep opening graves, using Frost Nova to slow the mobs down. If things get too heated, you can drop combat again in another safe spot behind the urns at the ledge where two stone walls meet, then open the rest of the graves, using Nova whenever necessary.
Once all the undead have risen, it’s time for the kill phase. Get as high up on the walls as possible, pull the boss along with the entire pack of mobs, and stack them up by jumping from one wall to another. When they’re grouped up, AoE them down with Blizzard. Keep moving between walls to reposition the pack and keep casting Blizzard until everything is dead.
Western Plaguelands Farm
The last farm for today, and you’re in for a fight against a horde of zombies!
Head north of the Ruins of Andorhal, where your main targets are Rotting Cadavers, Blighted Zombies, Skeletal Terrors, and pretty much any undead mobs you come across. Most of your gold will come from Runecloth, but you can also loot potions like Major Mana Potion and Major Healing Potion, Traveler’s Backpacks, and some valuable BoEs.
All you have to do is pull a bunch of mobs, AoE them down, and then get your loot. Be careful, though—some zombies can cast Fear on you, so stay at max range when using your AoE attacks to avoid getting feared and keep control of the fight.
