Brie Larson is in early talks to play Captain Marvel

Jun 1, 2016

According to Variety, Oscar winner Brie Larson is currently in early talks to play Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, who is one of Marvel’s most popular female characters.

Larson already has an impressive slate of films ahead with Free Fire, Basmati Blues, The Glass Castle and Kong: Skull Island all set to hit theaters within the next two years. She previously won an Oscar for her role in 2015’s Room.

No word on who the director of the film will be. Earlier this month, Kevin Feige told Deadline, “In terms of Captain Marvel, we don’t send out edicts. That being said, we are meeting with many, many immensely talented directors, the majority of whom are female. I do hope they will have announcements certainly by the summer, before the summer’s end, on a director for that.”

Marvel has not made a comment on the decision, so as of now, this can be taken as a rumor. I’m sure we will hear an announcement of some sort during San Diego Comic Con next month.

Currently Captain Marvel can be seen in Civil War II #1 facing off against Tony Stark, which hits shelves today.

What do you about Brie Larson taking on the role as Danvers and joining the rest of the star-studded cast that is the MCU?
