‘Child’s Play’ Reboot Enlists Composer Bear McCreary (‘The Walking Dead,’ ‘God of War’)

United Artists Releasing’s reimagining of ‘Child’s Play’ has enlisted composer Bear McCreary. Check out the announcement below, which features a new track from the film’s score!

The film is not connected to the Don Mancini franchise. Mancini’s ongoing universe has a whopping seven movies and a television show on the way.

McCreary has worked in film, television, and video games over the years. For film, he has ’10 Cloverfield Lane,’ ‘Colossal,’ both ‘Happy Death Day’ films. For television, he has ‘Battlestar Galactica,’ ‘The Walking Dead,’ ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ and the upcoming ‘Snowpiercer’ series. In the video game world, he is popular for his work on the acclaimed ‘God of War’ reboot. Next up is ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters,’ releasing May 31st.

The cast comprises of Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, Gabriel Bateman, Tim Matheson, as well as Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky.

The premise is below:

“The story follows a mother named Karen (Plaza) who gives her son Andy (Bateman) a toy doll, Chucky (Hamill), though both aren’t aware of its evil nature.”

Moreover, Lars Klevberg (‘Polaroid’) serves as director, while the screenplay is from Tyler Burton Smith (‘Kung Fury II’).

‘Child’s Play’ will release on June 21st, up against Pixar’s ‘Toy Story 4.’
