Christopher Nolan’s Untitled Event Film Taps Editor Jennifer Lame (‘Frances Ha,’ ‘Hereditary’)

Apr 6, 2019

Christopher Nolan’s untitled ‘Event Film’ now has Jennifer Lame onboard as editor, instead of his frequent collaborator Lee Smith. This is due to Smith’s obligation to the next film from Sam Mendes: ‘1917,’ releasing December 25th.

Lame is a frequent collaborator with filmmaker Noah Baumbach. Such films include ‘Frances Ha,’ ‘While We’re Young,’ ‘Mistress America,’ and ‘The Meyerowitz Stories.’ She recently did Ari Aster’s ‘Hereditary,’ as well as Kenneth Lonergan’s ‘Manchester by the Sea.’ Next is Baumbach’s untitled Netflix film, starring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver, releasing this fall.

Currently there are no character details, and plot details are sparse. Although, we do know the film is a massive, innovative, action blockbuster, which will be shown in IMAX. Also, it will be a globe-trotting adventure that has shades of the mind-bending nature of Inception but does involve the time continuum.

Robert Pattinson and John David Washington will play the two male leads, while Elizabeth Debicki has the female lead. There is also an older male co-starring role that has not been cast yet.

As for fake news, the film will be not be a romantic thriller in the vein of Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘North By Northwest’ and Nolan’s ‘Inception.’

However, it is still unclear whether or not there is truth to the previous crew announcements:

  • Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema (‘Interstellar,’ ‘Dunkirk’)
  • Production designer Nathan Crowley (‘Dunkirk,’ ‘First Man’)

Further, filming could begin this June.

Warner Bros. will release the film on July 17, 2020.
